Betting on Batting & Bowling Performances

You can bet on betting and bowling performances at cricket sportsbooks online. The top betting sites now offer a bewildering array of cricket markets for batters and bowlers. Often, you can find 100s of markets on a single match without even having to bet on the outcome. 

Top Batter Betting

You can find top batter betting markets under the ‘Players’ tab at your preferred sportsbook. Good sportsbooks will price up a range of individual markets for each batsman for every innings. 

Typically, batter runs markets are listed as Over/Under. You bet on whether the batter’s total runs will be over or under the mark set by the bookmaker. You can also bet live while the batter is still at the crease. 

Look out, too, for Y/N markets on a batter’s performance. You might find odds on whether the batter will reach 50 or a century: a simple Yes/No bet is fine here. 

Some sportsbooks also offer odds on the method of dismissal. It’s a smart bet to make if you suspect a batter is susceptible to LBW shouts.

Top Bowler Betting

You can also bet on how individual bowlers will perform during a test, ODI, or T20 game. Like batters, you can bet over/under on total wickets taken in the innings or match.

Combo Betting

Some of the larger online betting sites also offer Combo markets. These are pre-packaged parlays on batter milestones and bowler performance. 

For example, 10CRIC offers odds of 7.75 on Kadeem Alleyne to score 50+ and Jason Holder to make 1.5+ dismissals in the same game. 

Player Performance

Larger online betting sites with a cricket focus also offer Player Performance markets. Also known as ‘Player Points’, these are markets on how well a player has contributed to the match. 

The sportsbook awards points based on runs scored or wickets taken. Players can also earn points by making catches or stumping. 

For example, player performance might be calculated like this:

• Every run scored: 1 point

• Every wicket taken: 10 points

• Every catch: 5 points

• Wicketkeeper stumping: 20 points

The sportsbook then prices up a performance marker for each player. You bet whether the total player performance points will be higher or lower than the bookmaker’s price. 

For example, a bookmaker prices up Jason Holder as 1.85 on the Over/Under 32.5 points. He takes four wickets and one catch but does not bat. His total player performance ends up 45 points. The over 38.5-points bet therefore wins. 

Player Props
 

In addition, many online betting sites offer player props on bowlers and batters. Typical markets include ‘Most Fours’ and ‘Most Sixes’. These bear no relation to the outcome. However, they can be good prop bets if you want to back an in-form T20 batter without worrying about who’s going to win the game.
